I am married to the greatest man in a world. Not only is he a hard worker, but he shows me the love that I could only wish for. He is truly my other half. We are currently trying to becoming parents...a new journey I could never be more excited for. I love being Mrs. Annsley Bishop. :)
so for my art project we had to fake a death/murder. for mine I did someone who had jumped off a building. when I was laying down while the picture was being taken, 7 people came running up to me asking if I was okay and if I needed an ambulance etc. I’ve been suicidal for a very long time, and the thoughts of jumping off buildings and ending my life have gone through my mind a thousand times. But the fact that people actually stopped and came running over to see if I was alright made me see that people do care, strangers care. so many people looked and walked past, but these 7 people some how took these suicidal feelings away… weird huh? But the moral of this story is that people do care about you, even people who don’t know who you are.
He and his sick daddy are the reasons I wake up in the morning, The reason I can survive on just a little sleep, and the reason I can be strong enough to be everything I can for them. I love my little famoly so much.
"Covers that were not made by the manufacturer and tested with your seat may interfere with harness fit and flammability." May? That doesn’t sound too promising. And this site has no cited sources at all. I am not saying that custom car seat covers are better than the manufacturers but when put on correctly and made with the right fabric the risk is the same as the risk with the one pre installed.
Yes, may. Because since the covers ARE NOT CRASH TESTED, we literally have no idea what will happen. They could be perfectly safe. But they could be deadly. Are you really willing to take that risk just because it’s “cute?”
You cannot possibly make it fit exactly like a manufacturer’s cover. You cannot possibly make it meet the flammability requirements that manufacturer’s covers meet, as you don’t have the access to the fire retardants manufacturers use on their seats.
That site IS THE CITED SOURCE. The people who run that site are all very qualified car seat technicians, and are a very reputable source of car seat safety information.
But, if you really need more proof, go look up the manual for literally ANY car seat. It will say that the use of aftermarket products is not allowed, and that it will void your warranty - meaning that if ANYTHING happens to your child or the seat (like in an accident) then neither the manufacturer nor your insurance company are liable or required to cover any damages. So at a very minimum, you’ll be completely responsible for purchasing a new seat in the event of a crash (when normally your insurance company would cover it 100%), and at a very worst case scenario, your insurance company would not be required to pay out anything if your child were injured/killed in a crash.
Sorry, but cute isn’t worth that. At all.
Here here ^ third party aftermarket products will VOID YOUR WARRANTY, and possibly kill your child, or your child could be severely burned since these covers are not flame retardant.
What does that mean? If you get into an accident and heaven forbid your child dies, you cannot sue the car seat company, they get off scott free. Your insurance does as well.
In the lesser event you just need to replace the car seat? Your insurance will tell you to fuck off, because you altered the seat and they get off scott free.
You CANNOT make an aftermarket product to the same standard of quality and tested and approved for use. It’s 100% not possible.
A child’s life is more important than aesthetics, and making these covers or just promoting them, either way they’re dangerous, and just contributing to the problem.
Guy’s, it’s a GIVE AWAY! I’m not literally going to each of your homes and forcing you to replace your car seat cover. I am simply being nice and wanting to give back to the tumblr community. If you do not want the car seat cover, that is fine. I won’t send it to you. Dear lord.
But why would you give away something that you now know is unsafe? What if someone wins that doesn’t know it’s unsafe and they use it? It doesn’t make any sense! Why don’t you replace that part of the give away with a cute blanket or something?
Because I like the covers. Simple as that. When you do a give away, you can put in it cute blankets instead of car seat covers. But since it is my give away and I am the one purchacing the items I get to decide what I am giving away and what I am not. And I choose adorable car seat covers.
Can we seriously stop with the bullshit? It’s her giveaway, and now if anyone enters it they will see the comments therefore educating them about the dangers of car seat covers. But in the end, nothing you say will change her mind. It is her giveaway and I know that some people will take chances with car seat covers, although I’m not one of them. Even if they chose not to use the cover, they could always use the shade covers, or the minky covers if they were, stuck at a hotel for the night per say and didn’t want to co sleep. Or if they went on a walk and it was cold outside.
^ Seriously though. Just because a product comes straight from a manufacturer does NOT mean it is safe. I worked in a baby thrift/resale/consignment store and we had to keep up on all of the recalls of baby products. THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF RECALLS CONSTANTLY. Cribs, toys, clothes, etc. It’s a giveaway. Free baby stuff. If you do not want the carseat covers, simply tell her that. It’s really, very simple. It’s not like she’s trying to kill someone’s baby. She tried doing something nice and got blown the fuck up for it.
